Chocolat country

Well we have arrived in Dijon and although it did take a little longer on the toll-free roads the scenery was worth it.
The house that we have this time is amazing! We have a whole house with a kitchen and a washing machine. (You know you are getting a little homesick when a washing machine gets you excited!) Anyway it is a chance to clean up and cook some home cooked meals. I have to say Chris has done an amazing job on the research and booking of these places and of course keeping us within the budget.
Today we have done some easy going exploring around this Dijon area. First stop was the source of the Siene (the river running through Paris) - that was quite exciting. There is a grotto with a statue of a goddess which people have worshipped at this place in the past.
Aftewards we stumbled on a town which I had a funny feeling was significant and oh boy was it ever - the village where they filmed many of the scenes from Chocolat (with Johnny Depp!). I was very excited and happy to check out this town. It is a gorgeous village (even without the movie reference) built up on a hill with a medieval wall all around it. So we walked all around the village and had a lovely picnic. Love the movie and the book and now the village! Life is SO good. And tonight we have borrowed the movie from our host and will check out all the scenery very closely while eating chocolate!
After this we took a leisurely drive through the valleys. It is SO green apart from the canola fields which are bright yellow. Just gorgeous.
