What an adventurous day this was! We caught the train from Ashford to go under the North Sea to "the continent". We did not have time to ponder the the fact that we were travelling under the sea as the train goes so fast - it is only in the tunnel for about 20 minutes! So then we could sit back and enjoy the french countryside.
Arriving in Paris was a bit chaotic. Working out the trains, buying tickets, struggling with the language - all good fun. And then when we reached our hotel, because it was Sunday, there was no reception so we had to work through a series of codes and pins to obtain our key from the safe and get our room. Overall it went quite smoothly but we were worn out afterwards! It was like an episode of The Amazing Race!
By this stage we were hungry as well so set out to buy some food and...because it was Sunday...yep most places were closed. We found a shop though that sold all the essentials - bread, wine, cheese and settled in for the night.
The room is great and we have plenty of room to spread ourselves out.
