Set out after breakfast on the train to the Palace of Versailles. Popular place. We explored the gardens first while the crowds (mostly tour groups) died down a bit. Also visited the Marie Antoinette Estate next door. Then back to the main Palace - it is spectacular in it's grandeur. Every room is heavily decorated with art and gold and chandeliers.
After the Palace we did a first for our holiday - went to McDonalds! I know - we are in France we should be eating quality French food, but sometimes when you are hungry and the kids are hungry and there it is...we did have French Fries!
Afterwards we caught a couple of metro trains to have a quick look at the Eiffel tower and the Arc de Triumphe - we will return to climb the Eiffel tower later in the week when it is not so cold and windy!
