Two more metro trains and we found the Hertz car rental place with no problems. The biggest event for today was for Chris learning to drive on the right hand side of the road and drive a left hand side drive. He was a champion and did a great job. He was pretty stressed though! Thank goodness for our Tom Tom at moments like this.
We managed to get out of Paris fairly quickly and were soon driving through beautiful countryside. We stopped by a stream in a small village to have our lunch. Perfect.
We arrived at our accomodation in the afternoon and we were all blown away by how gorgeous it is! It is a farm stay (gite) so we are basically staying in someones house. It is so beautifully decorated and homely and cosy. It is in the countryside so the kids were very excited to go and run around outside and pat the goats and dogs in the fresh air.
We went into the town of Amboise for dinner - it was a lively town with gorgeous little alley ways with many restaurants right beside the Loire River with a chateaux towering over the town where Leonardo da Vinci spent the last few years of his life. Tre bien!
